The Gift: The Celestron Handheld Digital Microscope (available now for around $100)

The Scoop: This very easy-to-use microscope is a great way to get a big-time view of really small things! It’s so cool to see how tiny things (like bugs, currency, bugs, plants) look under the microscope. But it’s even cooler to take great pictures and videos of all your magnified finds. Once you zoom in (up to 54x) and finely tune your focus on an object in the LCD screen, taking images and video is a matter of just pressing a button. Downloading these files to your computer to share with others is just as easy.

But since a picture worth a lot more than this description, check out this image I took of Abe Lincoln’s mouth on a $5 bill.

Pretty cool.

A Great Gift For: The aspiring scientists and smarty pants in the family young and old alike.

* Celestron provided a microscope for review purposes.
