The Pirates Band of Misfits movie is only a few days away and I thought it would be fun to embrace the pirate trend of 2012. From clothing to toys there is no shortage of buccaneer fashions and booty for the little one. Here is a list of my favorite pirate looks and toys. Enjoy!

1. You can’t call yourself a pirate unless you dress like one! Some of my favorite gear includes chasing fireflies stripes ahoy tee and when I grow up pirate tee. If you don’t want to get too literal crew cuts and mini boden have great nautical inspired apparel for your little one.

2. Throw a pirate theme party this summer. Chasing fire flies has a great assortment of hats, centerpieces and other party essentials. Add a fun scavenger hunt to find the buried treasure to complete the theme!

3. Go “overboard” with room décor. Potterybarn kids pirate map mural will have every sea captain wanting this piece of wall art in their bunker. The pirate cove collection by the land of nod also has everything a young captain needs. The best part is that once your child is over their pirate phase these pieces can easily be transitioned into something more age appropriate.

4. Every Captain needs a ship and buried treasure of his own. Sail away on an eco- friendly cardboard ship or water blast your enemies in an inflatable ship that will be sure provide summer fun. Kids will also love playing with pirate inspired toys such as LEGO pirates of the Caribbean  building sets.

So, test out your sea legs you landlubbers and have some fun playing pirate this summer! To get on top of your pirate lingo check out this pirate talk dictionary
