Outdoor Retailer Summer Market (a.k.a. “OR”), in Salt Lake City, is the world’s largest outdoor sports industry gathering! With over 25,000 exhibitors and attendees, OR is THE place to find the hot products, the browse latest trends and see great “coming soon” gear from over 1000 outdoor lifestyle brands.

With what seems like acres of cool outdoor products, the trick for a Gift Guru is to find the fun, unique, helpful and ultimately “gift-able” products from the thousands on hand.

Here’s a great one that caught my eye at this year’s show:

The Gift The Gerber Bear Grylls Grandfather Knife (available for the Holidays 2012 $30)

The Scoop: Retro-inspired products are very hot in 2012.  A great example is the the Bear Grylls Grandfather Knife.  The inspiration for this knife is a Grylls family heirloom knife Bear’s grandfather had during World War II.  Bear’s dad eventually handed it down to Bear himself.  Gerber’s updated knife has all the utility of the original including a fine blade, cork screw, flat and Phillips head drivers, and bottle opener.  The heritage look of the knife meets the 21st century with Bear’s trademark rubberized grip.

A Great Gift For: for a dad to give a son to start their own tradition!
