The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world’s largest consumer technology trade show. Nearly 150,000 attendees are on hand to check out over 2500 exhibitors showcasing their latest products on more than 1.6 million feet of exhibit space. This trade show is massive!

Since consumer electronics are the hottest and (still) fastest growing gift segment, CES gives me a chance to get an early look at some great gadgets. CES also is a great place to spot the bigger picture trends in the electronics arena.

The sheer amount of products at CES is staggering, but I have turned Las Vegas upside down and found some cool ones that should make great gifts. Here are some of my favorites from CES 2012.

The Product: The LifeProof Case for iPhone 4/4s (available now for around $80)

The Scoop: As the name implies, the LifeProof case for iPhone (4/4S) will take nearly everything you can dish out. Want proof? How about 4 “proofs”.

  • LifeProof cases are Shock-Proof and have been tested to Military Specifications to withstand drops on to any surface from 2 meters (6.6 feet).

  • LifeProof cases are Water-Proof can be submerged to a depth of 2 meters (6.6 feet). So the case certainly protects from rain and even food or beverage spills.

  • LifeProof cases are Dirt-Proof because the case is fully sealed. So your iPhone is protected from everything between thick mud and fine dust.

  • LifeProof cases are Snow-Proof and will be protected from drops into snow and onto ice (just as in water).

The key to the LifeProof case is a very durable sealed housing that keeps the iPhone free from water, dirt and moisture. The result is an iPhone that is protected from basically every common (and some uncommon) “whoops” scenarios that unfortunately happen all the time.

A phone slips from a counter top? No problem. A phone dropped at the beach? Totally protected. A phone accidentally dropped in the toilet (parents of little ones- I’m looking at you!)? Not to worry.

So if you’re worried about protecting your phone from everyday wear and tear OR if you’re looking to capture some great action photos and videos on your next adventure, a LifeProof case will have you covered.

PS- It looks like there may be an iPad LifeProof case on the horizon as well.

A Great Gift For: an iPhone lover who doesn’t want to worry about damaging their iPhone.
