Derby Day

Just because the royal wedding is over, doesn’t mean it’s time to put away your fancy hats. With all the news that’s been going on lately, I almost forgot one of the biggest parties in the Spring, the Kentucky Derby.

Horse racing may not be everybody’s forte, but what about mint juleps and big brimmed hats? Kind of hard to say no to that. Whether you’ll be actually attending the race or throwing a themed party of your own, there are a few Derby essentials to keep in mind.

Obviously big hats are a must, the bigger the better. And some sort of rose arrangement, after all, it is called “The Road to the Roses”. Being that this event is all about Southern hospitality, it doesn’t hurt to include some pecan pie or some quality bourbon as part of your party spread. As for the dress code, look no further than this derby fashion guide by Southern Living.

To kick off your Derby Party, see our themed picks below and start placing your bets.

Starting clockwise: 1) Ralph Lauren Snack Dish, 2) Horse Shoe Necklace, 3) Bar Tools and Guide, 4) Mint Julep, 5) Bridle Scarf, 6) Floppy Straw Hat, 7) Rose Tower Arrangement
