This week is tartan week in New York where the Scots come out to celebrate their heritage. In amongst all of the highland dancing, parades, bagpipes and whiskey, there is a fashion show, “Dressed to Kilt” hosted by the original James Bond and proud Scot, Sir Sean Connery. The theme of this year’s event was ‘Country Chic: Scottish Couture meets Country and Western’ which saw the unusual mix of traditional Scottish kilts and cowboy hats.

Known tartan fans Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen showcased new themed designs while young US and Scottish fashion graduates had the opportunity to see their designs modeled on the catwalk. All of the designs will be available in the Dressed to Kilt pop-up shop in Midtown Manhattan.

The stars were out for the celebration of Scottish fashion. Guest of honor Donald Trump and his wife Melania watched the show while Gossip Girl’s Matthew Settle, Kiefer Sutherland and the New York Giants stars Ahmad Bradshaw and Danny Ware all took to the catwalk wearing kilts. Chris Noth was the big hit of the night……….(he flashed but in an appropriate way), but in The fashion show was followed by a unique mix of break-dancing to traditional Scottish music. Embrace your Scottish heritage with these tartan themed products.
