Emmys Awards Party Ideas

Maybe it’s my inner homebody, but I LOVE award shows. I love having friends over, I love making hors d’oeuvres and signature cocktails, I love the fashion and I love cheering on my favorite nominees! After a long, fun summer of not watching television, I look forward to watching the Emmys every fall and welcoming the return of my favorite shows.

One thing that makes every Emmy party at home more exciting is to make ballots that everyone casts during the red carpet coverage. Keep tabs on who picks the most winners. You could even have a prize for the person most in tune with the judges like a bottle of wine or a crown to wear at next year’s party before parting with it to the new winner. A tradition is born!

Another fun way to make the Emmys an event of your own is to design your own signature cocktail. There are so many fun recipes out there. I love signaturecocktailrecipes.com because you just keep clicking “random cocktail” in the top left corner until you see a recipe on the napkin that you like. It’s a lot of fun! Otherwise, you can search by letter if you want to be more methodical about it.

This year both the Comedy and Drama nominees for Best Series, the most coveted awards, are all in my personal top 10 which will make for a compelling night. The nominees for Outstanding Comedy Series are Curb Your Enthusiasm, GIRLS, 30 Rock, VEEP, Modern Family and the Big Bang Theory. The nominees for Outstanding Drama Series are Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, Mad Men, Homeland and Game of Thrones. You can see the entire list of nominees at the Emmys official website.

So don’t forget to tune in on Sunday September 23rd to enjoy the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards at 8:00pm on ABC. I’ll be watching the pre-show to enjoy the red carpet fashion! If you aren’t caught up, check out our list of Emmy nominated shows at Gifts.com. Grab your friends and family, make some delicious snacks and enjoy! I’ll be rooting for GIRLS and Mad Men, what will you be rooting for?
