Family Yard Games for Summer!

It’s finally summer, time to enjoy the outdoors and have some fun with your family. Growing up, my favorite family outdoor activities always involved hours in the pool or ball games. I also loved when all seven of us got outside and enjoyed a game together. So, here is a list of my favorite family lawn games that will have you laughing and enjoying time together all summer long.

1. Ladder ball is a fun game that can be played with people of all ages. This game can be played with two or more people and the object of the game is to get all three of your bolas around the steps of the ladder.

2. Classic outdoor sports such as a game of soccer, volleyball or baseball are a great way to bond with the family. Pick a sport that everyone will have fun participating in. Little ones can sometimes get frustrated with big kid games so choose wisely. A gentle game of soccer is probably best for the tots.

3. Bocce Ball is a relaxing fun game that can be played with two or more players. The object of the game is to get your ball as close as you can to the “pallino” (which is a smaller ball). After all players have thrown their bocce balls the player closest to the “pallino” is awarded points. This game seems easy, but is surprisingly fun & competitive. You could find yourself playing all day.

4. If your family is super competitive, a fun game of game of capture the flag or freeze tag is the perfect game. Just remember to keep it fun and tearless!

5. Create an Obstacle Course! If you have a big yard, be creative and build a fun obstacle course for your family to race through. You can make it a game of racing against the clock: whoever completes the course in the fastest amount of time wins! Or, you can race through and see who is able to conquer each component.

Whatever family game you participate in make it fun and creative. Have a blast with a family water balloon fight or create a treasure hunt for some family bonding.

Enjoy!
