Great Holiday Read: 2012 Guinness Book of World Records
The Gift: The Guinness Book of Records 2012 (available now for around $20)
The Scoop: I vividly remember, when I was growing up, The Guinness Book of Records was my favorite book and renewed almost weekly from the Osborn Hill School library. I was fascinated by the rapid fire facts, oddities and records that seemed to never end. I don’t think I’m the only one who had a childhood goal/dream of setting a new world’s record.
My love for the Guinness Book was rekindled the other night at a launch party for the 2012 edition. The 2012 Guinness Book contains over 4000 new and updated records presented in a truly vibrant tome featuring over 900 amazing photos. The volume of astounding records such as “The Longest Domestic Cat”, “The Largest Whoopie Cushion”, and “The Largest Pool Party” keep the pages turning. And the pages under the heading “How To Be A Record-Breaker” will certainly get would-be future record holders thinking. Hmmmm….
But until I embark on my record-breaking quest, I was honored to be in presence of a real Guinness Record holder. Say “Hi” to Aevin Dugas (pictured), the woman holding the record for the “Largest Afro” (measures 4 foot 4 inches in circumference).
A Great Gift For: For generations, grade school boys have been entranced by the Guinness Book. Also, adults who sometimes act like grade school boys will also love it too.
