In honor of the spring equinox and the welcome shift in wardrobe and lifestyle that it ushers in…we’re giving you a different trend report every day this week! From home decor to beauty and even pets, we sharing the scoop on what will be heating things up this spring.

Trae Bodge is a career beauty product developer, makeup artist and on-air presenter who, two years ago, transitioned into beauty & lifestyle journalism. As Senior Writer and gift expert of the Retailmenot.com Insider, she happily covers everything from beauty to birthdays to bed bugs. And we’re happy to have her here to tell us all about the hottest beauty Trends for Spring 2012 . Thanks for keeping us beautiful Trae!

Move over Winter doldrums…Spring is here! We can always rely on the bright colors of Spring to cheer us up. This season is no different, especially with makeup. You’ll notice that the colors hitting the shelves are cheery and vibrant, so you’ll definitely want to work some of those colors into your look.

Lips

My favorite Spring lip color is Don’t Stop Red ($22) from Beauty for Real. This lively, bright, poppy tone is gorgeous and the formula is nourishing, long- lasting and not sticky or gummy. Beauty for Real creator, Leslie Munsell, says, “It gives you a great burst of color for Spring, a perfect compliment for what’s happening in fashion and also beautiful on a range of skin tones,”…“You won’’t want to stop wearing it!” I agree, Leslie!

Cheeks

An ideal partner for Don’t Stop Red lip gloss is NYX Tickled Cream Blush (6.25). This warm peach appears super bright in the pot, but goes on with a soft, gold shimmer that tempers the brightness. The color is great for all skin tones, from fair to deep and provides a fresh glow that is that radiates Spring.

Eyes

For daytime, pair this intense bright lip and cheek with a subtle eye. Jemma Kidd’s Smoke It Up I-Kit ($22) has four neutral shades, plus silver for a little sparkle – the perfect range of colors for an understated look. For a night out, have some fun with the Rimmel London Glam Eyes HD Eye Shadows ($5.69 each). I would recommend Purple Reign – a collection of purples and blues, or Royal Blue – a collection of teal, navy and white, for your Spring look.

Nails

Feeling a little shy about going bold with your makeup? Have a little fun with your nails instead! Next time you’re in Walgreens, check out the Sinful Colors spring collection. From hot pink to acid green, this collection has every statement making shade you’ll be looking for this season. My favorites are the Unicorn – a bright, creamy, opaque, sunny yellow – for the toes, and Pinky Glitter – a sheer, pink with loads of silver sparkle – for the fingers ($1.99/available at drugstores).
