Happy 30th Anniversary MTV!

Before Snooki and the rest of the reality stars took over the network, MTV stood for Music Television. After celebrating it’s 30th Birthday yesterday, we can all fondly look back on what the network used to be. After years of wondering when “the music died”, the network has been making efforts to bring back some of their original programming to lure back their one-time fans and maybe prove to their new fans, they’re more than just Teen Moms and dating shows.
The country has been experiencing a big 90′s revival for awhile now, with flannel and Dr Martens popping up all over the place. So it seems perfect timing for MTV to bring back their beloved cult series “Beavis an d Butthead”, “120 minutes” and, a rumored Daria return.
While I don’t expect the guilty pleasure shows like “The Jersey Shore” to disappear from their scheduling anytime soon, I’ll be crossing my fingers for some more “non-reality” programming to show up on MTV as promised. As for more music videos, well the internet killed with video star with sites like Youtube and Vevo as to the go-to for videos old and new.
Until then, there’s the Annual VMA Awards (Video Music Awards) coming up on August 28, which every teen will tune in for. And for the older fans, take a trip down memory lane with the first video ever played on MTV.
