How to Party! Irish Style…
When you think of St. Patrick’s Day, most people think: green, corn beef, cabbage, and beer. Coming from a large Irish family, I love to incorporate other aspects of my culture when throwing the ultimate St. Patrick’s Day celebration. For this year’s party my main themes are ‘everything green’ & ‘symbols of luck’.
The first step, and the most important if you ask me, is planning my party outfit. This year I’m wearing a Paddy’s Irish Pub Tee and skinny tooth pick jeans in festive green.
The next step is décor, I typically like to focus on the bar and table setting as my main focal point of the party. I love to incorporate green hydrangea centerpieces, “sláinte!” place cards (Irish way of saying cheers) and green plates and table wear. For the bar, a tub cooler for alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages is essential. The personalized shamrock stainless steel party tub cooler is a personal favorite. Pint glasses are also a must; you can go simple with Guinness pint glasses or fancy it up with your own monogramed set.
Just for fun, I love to garnish a fresh poured Guinness with a shamrock for luck. See this video of how to pour a shamrock into your Guinness! Music is at the heart of every Irish celebration and Whiskey in the Jar: Essential Irish Drinking Songs & Sing Alongs and Flogging Molly Drunken Lullabies will definitely be part of my St. Patrick’s Day play list.
No matter what kind of St Patrick’s Day Party you decide to throw keep it fun with party favors and games.
Sláinte!
