Kids Fashion: Spring Trend Report
HELLO Spring!!
It’s the time of year where we say goodbye to heavy coats and hello to our spring wardrobe. As kids gift editor, I am constantly seeking new trends and have compiled a list of my kiddo spring favorites for 2012.
This year we’re going back to basics with simple, play friendly, wearable pieces that won’t break your wallet. It’s all about bold punches of color, soft pastels, fun floral prints, plaid and gingham tops and marine inspired apparel.
Ahoy Matey! Marine inspiration is everywhere from fun graphic tees to bold stripes, this trend has made its way to shore. Dress it up with a striped dress or go super casual with a graphic tee and short
Color…Color…Color! Think bright yellow and tangerine. From colorful skinny jeans to vibrant color blocking pieces, it’s easy for every kid to get in on this trend this year. I love bright colorful jeans with a super girly top or for boy’s bright tees with cool cargos.
Pastels are being featured in boys’ and girls’ wear, focusing on soft blue, pink and green hues. Many retailers are getting in on this trend and the options out there are endless. I love the selection of this trend from GAP Kids and Ralph Lauren.
Bold and pretty floral prints are another big trend this year in children’s wear. A pretty print is essential for every little girl’s closet this year. Diane von Furstenberg reprises her vintage prints into pieces that are play friendly in her DVF for Gap line that launched March 15. Moms will love that it’s safe to just throw the garment in the washer too.
Plaid and Gingham prints are a spring classic that makes kids look picnic perfect. It’s the ultimate laid back cool look for both girls and boys. These trends are great with bold colorful tops or dressed down casually with a pair of shorts.
