March Madness

So the field is set. No more speculating or griping about bubble teams. It’s time to buckle up and experience the madness that comes but once a year.

Now as far as you brackets go, you’re pretty much on your own. I have some talent at consistently picking great gifts, but I have a predictably inconsistent track record when it comes to picking hoops games in March. I’m still working on my brackets, but this year feels totally wide open with possibly a dozen teams with a legit case at making a title run. Guru Pick: Three teams I’m looking at to make some major noise this year are St. Johns, Washington and Louisville.

In terms of gifts to get into the spirit of March Madness, I’m loving the new “Campus Roar” tees from Nike. You’ll certainly let everyone know where you stand with these BIG statement tees in bold college colors. March is no time to be a fence sitter.

Another favorite of mine is a book called “The Enlightened Bracketologist: The Final Four of Everything”. This fun read frames one hundred plus pop culture debates in the form of the familiar 64 team brackets. So while you’ve probably discussed awesomely debatable topics like best Frank Sinatra Songs all-time, or the #1 all-time guitar solo, and top American beers, The Enlightened Bracketologist puts some weight in not effort into settling these baffling questions. Hmmm….maybe we should bracket up 64 gifts and do a little March Madness of our own?!

As for who will be cutting down the nets on April 4th? As much as it pains me type this, I’ve learned this early and often, when in doubt, take Duke.
