New Guru: Welcome Michelle!

On May 14th our new Teen and Beauty guru, Michelle D., joined our editorial team. We’re so happy that she is helping make Gifts.com your favorite place to find gift ideas.

I feel like nothing helps you get to know someone better than an interview. I had a lot of fun interviewing Michelle for this post and hope that you enjoy her answers. I have no doubt that we are all going to wonder how we ever lived without her fabulous ideas! Welcome Michelle!

 Q: What do you love about giving gifts?

A: I love everything about the process! When holidays or birthdays come around, it’s exciting to think about the people you care about and choose something they will love.

Q: What is the best gift you ever gave and why?

A: I gave my father a “man basket” last Christmas. I filled it with things I thought a Southern mans-man would enjoy like a Johnny Cash CD, Stanley Thermos, aged whiskey and a Swiss Army Knife; I love giving themed gifts.

Q: What is the best gift you ever got and why?

A: My iPhone! Extremely useful and fun, I could not live without it!

Q: What do you like to do when you’re not thinking about gifts?

A: I enjoy traveling, going to brunch and all things social media!

Q: What previous experience led to you becoming a Gift Guru?

A: I interned at JBrand Jeans and was a manager at both Urban Outfitters and Crossroads Trading Company. Working for such varying retailers helped me to understand different perspectives of consumers want.

Q: How do you tap in to what teens want?

A: Reading blogs and looking at Pinterest and Tumblr is really helpful because you can see what is trending and being talked about a lot. I also get lots of inspiration from my young cousins.
