Our 2012 Resolutions from the Gifts Team

We’ve heard it all before, New Year, New You. And while making resolutions for 2012 can feel pointless, it’s important to start off the new year with reasonable goals for self-improvement. Think of it as a self-imposed clean slate. If you think you’re going to lose 20 lbs or change all of your bad habits in a short amount of time, think again. It’s all about tackling the little things first so you can achieve one thing at a time.

And since us Gift Guru’s aren’t perfect either, we’ve decided to share our resolutions for the New Year. Wish us luck!

Dana H.

“It has been a life long dream of mine to be fluent in another language so that I feel more like a global citizen. So, this year, my sister and I are taking French classes together to get a jump on a second language.

Immersion is the best way to learn so I love this collection of contemporary indie French movies from Film Movement. If we can’t go there, we can bring it here with movies! Hopefully, after a year or two of classes we’ll be able to turn off the subtitles.”

Gillian J.

“This year I am going to combine two resolutions into one. I want to exercise more and become more “mindful”.

My resolution is to start doing Yoga a few times a week. This Danskin Now Yoga Kit seems like a perfect start.”

Dan T.

“Not sure if this is cheating, but I am repeating my 2011 resolution to run 1000 miles over the course of the year. I came up short this year with 807, but I think I have discovered a secret weapon to get it done this year. I’ve had a few weeks of running with the PureFlow running shoe by Brooks.

The Pure Project line by Brooks was introduced last year to give runners a stripped down, lightweight shoe that feels comfy and minimal yet not “minimalist”. With over 995 miles to go, I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me but with my new running partner, it feels like I’m headed in the right direction.”

Laura S.

“I figured if I can’t keep my home office organized at least I can keep my digital life organized. As part of my resolution to organize all of my digital files, personal and professional, I asked for a portable hard drive to back-up all of my files.

This G-Drive Mobile Hard Drive makes it easy to save all the information on my laptop and schedule monthly back-ups. So the day my computer does go kaput, I won’t be shaking my fists in the air over the loss of all my precious files.”

Elizabeth T.

“My resolution is to take more time out for myself which includes a trip to the spa every three months for a facial and some TLC.

I also plan on staying on top of my beauty regimen and protecting my skin this winter by using a daily moisturizer such as Clinique Moisture Surge Intense.”

Felicia W.

“Instead of making the harsh decision of dropping the pounds for the new year, my New Year’s Resolution is to make an effort one day at a time and slowly see changes in myself . With this tiny Fitbit Monitor I can keep track of my personal progress without stepping on the scale.”
