Spring Fashion Breakdown

After getting a sneak peak of Spring weather today and New York Fashion Week wrapping up, I for one am ready to put away snow boots and break out the flip flops. To help you get ready for blue skies, we’ve broken down the main trends to keep your eye out for in the coming months. There’s something for everyone whether you want to go retro with 70’s style, rebel with Biker and Punk or channel your inner Jackie O with 60’s ladylike. With all these trends to choose from, you are bound to find something which suits you!

For the 70′s trend, there are a few options. If you prefer the Bohemian style, you can opt for loose tie-neck blouses. And for an even more casual look, add a floppy sun hat to fully channel the “feel-good” decade.

This past Fall we saw plenty of leather jackets pop up in all styles and colors.  Well now that look has turned into a full-blown biker trend complete with studs, motorcycle boots and moto jackets. An easy way to wear this trend without looking like you stepped out of a Hells Angels club is a leather vest. They have the same tough-edged style but they’re lighter for spring and can be layered with softer fabrics. For an easier way to work the biker look, pull in a pair of classic biker boots to your outfit.

Although it has been on the edges of becoming a fully-fledged trend for a while, in Spring/Summer 2011, punk will be a key look. You can do the trend full on with standout make-up or more subtly with studded bracelets and safety pin accents.

While half the runways were filled with the boogie-down bo-ho look, the opposite of the spectrum was looking prim and proper with plenty of florals, frame satchels and pretty pastels. Think more 1960’s housewife than mini-skirted mod.

Lucky for all ladies, that means kitten heels are in! Just be sure to keep it ladylike and steer away from going full-blown sock hop.
