In honor of the spring equinox and the welcome shift in wardrobe and lifestyle that it ushers in…we’re giving you a different trend report every day this week! From home decor to beauty and even pets, we sharing the scoop on what will be heating things up this spring.

As the annual Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Florida begins, I’m going to tell you what’s trending for your loveable pets! Sadly I’m not there but, do not fret, I’ve been following what buyers and retailers are talking about! And, if nothing but the most up-to-date gear will do for the furry friends on your list, I have the trends you’re going to need.

Thousands of buyers will make their way to the Orlando Convention Center because, for 2012, it’s bigger than ever with everything from toys to treats. Why does the Pet Expo keep getting bigger? “We turn to our pets for comfort and we want to thank them” says Bob Vetere, President of American Pet Products Association. We consider pets to be our truest friends and we want to take care of them the same way we take care of our family.

This year everyone is focused on natural pet gear and, according to Dawna Ertel from Ertel and Associates, “customers are more savvy and don’t want chemicals on or in their pets”. People are taking a more Eco-friendly, organic route wanting to make sure the ingredients and materials in their pet products are holistic.

Stylish traveling gear is also trending for pets on-the-go this spring! Now that hotels, airlines, and even restaurants are more pet friendly, we can bring our little buddies with us almost everywhere. From car seats to carrying bags, pets can join us on road trips or trips around the world!

Happy trails!
