Outdoor Retailer Summer Market (a.k.a “OR”) is the world’s largest outdoor sports industry gathering! This is THE place to find the hot products, the latest trends and see the “coming soon” goods from over 1000 outdoor lifestyle brands.

The trick for a Gift Guru is to find the fun, unique, helpful and ultimately “gift-able” products from the thousands on hand. Here’s one I love:

The Gift: Stainless Steel Pint Cup from Klean Kanteen (available in October 2011 around $10)

The Scoop: Outdoor Retailer has always been a work hard play hard kinda of trade show. “Beer Thirty” is traditionally the time on the OR floor when things start transitioning from the “work” to the “play” part of the day with many opening up their booths for complementary beers and snacks. So it was great to see Klean Kanteen partner with Patagonia, Osprey Packs and the BuffaloFieldCampain.org to rally awareness against single-use beverage containers.

For a (suggested) $5 donation to benefit the Buffalo Field Campaign, OR attendees received a very buzz-worthy Kleen Kanteen Stainless Steel Pint Cup before it sees the light of day at retail stores but much more importantly (and cooler), a little piece of mind was gained knowing a few less Red Cups would find their way to a land fill. “DITCH single use plastic & PROTECT habitat for all species” Cheers!

A Great Gift For: Eco-aware outdoors-men and women and for Green gift lovers
