What’s in a Name…

It’s Fun Facts About Names Day! Yup, there is pretty much a “Day” for anything and everything if you look hard enough! So, I came up with a few “fun” facts to share. For instance, since 1880, there are only 3 male names that have remained in the top 25 of names given to newborns – James, Joseph & William. And there is only one female name – Elizabeth. (according to the US Social Security statistics)
A couple of names that were popular in 1880 that I doubt will make it back anytime soon – Clarence (male) & Bertha (female). Unless, of course, someone famous names their kid one of these names!
My favorite name quote has to be this one from Bill Cosby: “Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry.” Some sound naming advice from a very wise Dad.
And of course, my favorite name song has to be The Name Game by Shirley Ellis. (Be forewarned: if you listen to this song – it will not be easy to get it out of your head anytime soon!)
So, in the spirit of the day, I have put together a list of some of my Favorite Name Gifts.
