My favorite members were of my dad taking me to the park every Sunday afternoon during the summer to pitch batting practice to me. I think he was afraid he would never have a son, but he finally did.

I lost my Dad over 20 years ago, but I’m very fortunate to have great Father-in-laws (my husband’s Dad & Stepdad). We recently found out that they both have cancer, and I’m hoping they are cured so we can enjoy them a lot longer.

Favorite memory is when we were on the way to the church the day I was getting married - and he told me that it wasn’t too late to change my mind — if I had any doubts. By the way I didn’t — but it was so nice of him to care enough to ask me. And FYI been married now for over 36 years and each day gets better than the one before it.

We were playing hide and seek, and my dad hid me in the air conditioning duct. Needless to say, my brothers and sisters never found me, and I won the game.

Greetings, The first memory that comes to mind occurred when I was around 6 or 7 years old. I was outside with my dad while he was doing yard work! He remembers me telling him,
“Dad, look at the big fishin’ worm!” It was a small snake!

Terrific prize.
I have many many terrific memories of my father. One of the best ones is from the holiday season of 2006. My parents took us on a Disney cruise and vacation. There’s nothing as much fun as everyone waking Grandpa up out in the middle of the ocean on a vacation just to go to breakfast!Posted by valmg | May 31, 2008 @ 5:17 pm
My favorite memory with my dad was when he used to take me to ball games with him as a kid. I used to love watching either him play softball or going to White Sox games and afterwards playing catch in the yard. It was a ton of fun and to this day we still share a love of going to baseball games and try to make it to at least one a summer to cheer on our favorite team together.

My favorite memory of my Dad is that of late night emergency tow truck calls. He drove a tow truck for a short while and on weekends, allowed me to go along with him in my jammies!
I felt so proud of my dad, the car hero! Sometimes, he would say that it was too cold so I needed to sit with dispatch lady and he would talk to me over the radio. And he did..
He always made me feel like a little tomboy princess!Posted by mannequin | June 1, 2008 @ 7:50 am

My dad is a huge Motown fan. He used to travel frequently when I was younger. During the Reagan years, he was gone all the time, especially when Maureen Reagan went on her 50 State Tour in support of her dad (my dad is ex- Secret Service).
When he would com back from a long trip, he’d break out all his favorite records and he’d sing to me. We would slow dance to Daddy’s Home by Shep and the Limelights.

I think it was when me “gave me away” at my wedding, and said to my husband, “Take care of my baby…”
I don’t know if I’m supposed to know that he said it… but I know I will never forget it.
God bless-

One of my favorite memories is of my dad stumbling into my room in the middle of the night after I’d had a bad dream and had called for him. He never said anything, just picked me up and carried me downstairs where he sat down in an old, squeaky green rocker and rock me. He still never said anything, just held me and rocked me. Always drove the bad dreams away.

My favorite memory of my dad is that he would always bring me water when I called down to him at night, or if I forgot to close my closet door I would call to him and he would come up and close it for me (I was scared to have it open - even in jr. high!)

My best memories of my dad are the fishing trips that he and I took when I was in high school and college. Usually just a day or two, but we would go camping and then out in Puget Sounds in our little (tiny!) boat. Fun times just the two of us, dad and daughter!

I have lots of favorite memories of my Dad - one of them was the year I tried to stay awake so that I could catch him because I knew he was the Easter Bunny and I needed proof but he never came in and eventually I fell asleep. In the morning he told me that the Easter Bunny had to leave my basket with him because I wasn’t asleep yet and he couldn’t go into the bedrooms of kids who were still awake… Then there was the warm milk he would fix me when I couldn’t sleep, the trips to Sonic for banana splits when I needed someone to talk to, teaching me to drive in a cemetery so that anyone I ran over would already be dead, the way he cried at my wedding, watching him sleep on my couch with my daughter on his chest and… I have a great dad!

My favorite memories of my dad are all from the summertime. He would always leave work early so he could come home and take us to the pool. He would talk mom into ordering pizza and we would stay until the pool closed. Then he would make us sing the ice cream song so we could stop for ice cream. there is nothing better than those times with dad!

My favorite memory of my dad is a picture I drew in elementary school of ‘my hero’ (my dad) and then wrote above it:
My hero
Daddy, who I will live with me forever”Even though I am older and living on my own now, he reminds me whenever he feels its needed, that he might at anytime take me up on that picture I drew for him when I was just a little girl

My dad loved to make people laugh and he loved to entertain children. My dad lived around the corner from us when my daughter was 3. He came down one warm autumn day after the colorful leaves had been gently swept into a pile on the green lawn. My daughter wanted to jump in the leaves. A beautiful memory was my dad jumping in the leaves with my daughter. Their laughter rang out through the trees as they threw the leaves up into the air and watched them float gently down upon their heads. Then they took turns burying each other and popping up as if they were surprising each other. It was one of my fondest memories because my dad was bonding with my daughter. I wish I had him here today to recall the beautiful memory with me.

It is so wonderful to take the time and reflect on what would be my favorite memory. It is really tough to answer because in my memory, my father was a great teacher, a great motivator, a great father and a great friend. So many snapshots flip through my mind when trying to decide what would be the best - how could it be possible. My father played, mother and father role for a lot of my life and even though he was a driven professional, he managed to be available and supportive of our interests. I remember thinking of my father very much as a suit (much more conservative corp environment). Then one day when super soaker water guns had recently hit the market and we thought they were for me and my friends - my suit - aka- father waged a full out neighborhood war. I was a senior in high school in a new town and just remember having the time of my life. My father has provided much travel, education, support but that was just simply a blast - He very often reminds me, not always with a water gun, but reminds and gently encourages me to have fun with life and enjoy and embrace every moment - can that be captured by a watergun fight - sometimes!
yay Daddles.

My father took me on a cross country trip by car when I was 13 years old. We drove from Ohio to Colorado. It was a wonderful time to get to know each other when I was at an awkward age regarding my relationship with my father. I will never forget it and as an adult am amazed at his commitment to this trip as it was in the Carter years when gas prices were astronomical, as they are now.

My dad died exactly a year ago today, June 3, 2007. I have so many memories I don’t know where to begin because I was only 21 when he died last year. Just seeing him everyday and smelling his cologne as he got ready for work and his sense of humor. He always had a joke for everything. We used to go fishing, play basketball in the backyard, etc. I don’t even think I can find the words to write because today is such a sad day.

I must say that the best memory of my dad would be how hard he tried to keep his family afloat! He worked very hard to keep the roof over our head and to keep food on our table. He worked LONG shifts and on the weekends when he needed to. Growing up I didn’t have all the fancy games and toys that everyone else had. I had hand me downs from my cousins because we couldn’t afford new ones. But the fact that my dad would clean those hand me downs up and make them brand new for us meant the world! He was a true and honest man who loved his family. That is the best memory!!

I was twelve when my parents divorced. My Dad bought a van because he could not fit the four of us plus him in the front seat of a pick up truck. It had two seats in the front nothing else. We had a bean bag chair in the back and blankets(how dangerous this sounds now). We went everywhere to show off our brand new van. One of the things we did start doing is going to the Outer Banks and fishing every Sunday. We would load up the van with whatever we needed and take off. Just Dad and his Kids. Dad had custody of us. That was 33 years ago and it was not seen much for single Dads to have the kids. One Sunday we took my best friends Dad and her with us. Mr. Delar was scared to death. We drove that van on the sand with no problem but of course it was a bumpy ride, we were used to it. Now a days you couldn’t dare do that as the sand going into Oregon Inlet is not the same. We take our own kids down there now and even with four wheel drive we have been stuck. I will never forget those days hanging out with Dad and fishing. It was all so simple yet so important and one of the best memories I have of that time period.

My favorite memory of my dad was last summer, I went to visit him for a few days, and he took me up to lake Nimisila with his little boat, and we just went around the lake for hours. He was giving me a tour of the lake, showing me where he fishes, where the eagles are and just the beautiful nature. We spent our time reminising about all the good times we had when my mom was still alive, and fond memories of growing up.To me that was a day I will never forget.

My favorite memory of my Dad, easy! I had come home from college sick with bronchitis late Christmas Eve. I was up all night coughing. It was Christmas day and the first time that my Mom had to work on Christmas so we were all pretty bummed out. My older sister and younger brother were in the other room watching TV due to all my coughing. I was taking all kinds of cough medicines…. you name it, but nothing worked! I was lying on the couch coughing for about 30 minutes straight when my dad walked in. Without saying anything, he wrapped a blanket around me and carried me to the car. I’m still coughing pretty hard and finally I managed to say, “What are you doing?” He said “I’m taking you to the emergency room”. My Dad drove me to the emergency room and stayed by my side the entire time. Normally, this sort of thing was reserved for my Mom, the nurse and natural nurturer but Dad did a great job. The Drs fixed me up with some antibiotics and prescription cough medicine. I fell asleep as soon as we got home and slept the rest of the day. I know I was sick and we all missed my Mom terribly but that was still one of the best Christmases I’ve ever had! Thanks Dad!

There are definitely lots, but one of my favorite memories of my Dad actually came for me once I made him a grandfather. Seeing the love pour out of eyes as he first held as little granddaughter just touched my heart in such a huge way — and still does to this day. The fun thing is — I know now that each of my girls feels it the same way I do. He pours out his love for them, teases them, plays with them, and in so many ways lets them know from the top of their heads to the tip of their toes they are adored. In those same moments — he is telling me the same!

My father past away about 16 years ago now, but I miss him dearly.
One of the most fond memories I have of him was the quirkiness he had even when he was trying to be serious. I loved watching him when he didn’t know I was doing it. He wouldn’t do anything out of the ordinary…he was very fragile from having Diabetes most of his life (from the age of seven till he died back in 1991). He would always sit at the kitchen table hacking away at his leather with those little tools you use to engrave lettering on belts, purses, wallets and so forth. It was just the ways in which he did it that I enjoyed. He couldn’t see very well so he would constantly put his face as close to the lettering as possible as to see what he was doing next…it was just really cute. At the time I thought he was nuts waisting the day away doing nothing more than leather writing, but now, I would give anything to watch him do that again. This time I wouldn’t take for granted the man he once was.
When he past, my mother (being a very christian woman (in her eyes anyways)) decided that since he wasn’t as perfect as he should have been he would be going to “hell” so she threw everything away (pictures, clothes and so forth) so I don’t have anything but memories to remind me of him which saddens me to no end. I miss that man and wish so much that he was here today.

WHAT ABOUT DEAR OLD GRANDAD??????
Posted by dadoo5 | June 3, 2008 @ 5:52 pm
My favorite memory about my dad..Well, I don’t have to many. My dad wasn’t really in life, popped in and out. I hated him so much, and was deep, deep in my soul. I never thought in a million years, that I would have a “good” memory dealing with my dad, but, I was wrong. After years of deppression and crying, I finally got the courage to write my dad and let him know how I felt, I couldn’t say it directly to him. Needless to say, it didn’t change anything. Well after praying, and talking to my husband…my dad had his 2nd stroke, and was admitted to a nursing home, on feet moving like turtles, I went to see him. His wife told me his mind is not “right” he may not even know who I am. Favorite memory, sitting in his room, just watching him, not knowing what to say, my father turns to me and says, “I want you to know I have always loved you.” We sat there in silence the rest of the time I was there, but, that was fine. I forgave him that day, and we started over. That’s my favorite memory.

Learning to fish and almost passing out from excitement to hook a bluegill that probably weighed about 8 ounces. Those were the days.

I’m an only child - a girl. My dad encouraged me in everything I did and coached my softball and basketball teams when I was old enough - and interested enough - to play. I never ever felt like he would rather have had a son.

My favorite memory when I was little my Dad spent hours building a huge boat model. I watched and helped him and as a surprise he named the boat after me when I got older he bought an actual boat and we spent hours fishing together.

Dad was my biggest fan when I was making and selling crafts- he cut the wood for me and always made me feel so talented. In retirement he volunteered at the local community action and would fix things for people (lamps, record players, toasters…) He repaired all of his neighbors’ broken things and they never had to replace anything while he was alive.

This is a very nice frame. My dad has Parkinson’s and I would love to win this for him. His wish is to have all 3 of his kids together that has only happened once in 20 years. I would love for him to have the frame to watch us from.
Thanks for listing.Posted by nanllyn | June 3, 2008 @ 11:27 pm
My favorite memmories of my dad was when he took us to the beach clamming. He was always patient with us, when we didn’t know what we were doing.

i know that is kinda mean, but my fav. memory of my stepdad, is when i was like 18 he was trying to fix some wires and he shocked himself a little bit. He didn’t get hurt, it was just funny. My stepdad is a great guy but he just doesn’t have the “fix-it-gene”

Every year, during the week before Christmas, my dad would make sugar cookies. He rolled out the dough and use cookie cutters to make holiday shapes. After the cookies were baked and cooled, my sisters, brother, and I decorated them. It was a 3 hour process and I loved the time spent with my dad.

It has to be the time we went on a camping trip and when we were almost there my Dad realised he’d forgotten to put the tent poles in the car - he had to drive all the way back to get them again

Two or three times when I was in elementary school, my dad borrowed a friend’s small sailboat and took me sailing on the lake. We went to a little island in the middle of the lake and pretended we had discovered it and named it after ourselves. He also helped me sail the boat myself. It was a special dad/daughter bonding time and I still often give him Father’s Day cards with saliboats on them!

My favorite memories are the times my Dad & I went fishing. We’d get up early in the morning before sunrise and fish in the San Francisco Bay. That was when I was a kid. I wouldn’t fish there now.

My favorite memory of my Dad is when I was about 7 years old. He took me fishing in a rowboat and we caught many bullheads in the warm Wisconsin pouring rain.

My father was not demonstrative with his love, he wasn’t physical, it was so hard for him to give hugs or kisses. So a small, but endearing, memory I have of him is the day when I was perhaps 25, and leaving for a trip with friends, and he hugged me goodbye. We were outside in public, so this meant a lot.

I grew up on a farm and my best memory is my Dad loading all of us in the car to drive to town for an ice cream cone. That was all and it didn’t cost much, but it’s something we always looked forward to.

my dad spent most of his time avoiding interaction with us kids. my favorite memory was when he let me take my set of weights with us on vacation… it was a ridiculous request but he humored me
