Gift Giveaway: Boom Blox for Wii

July 18, 2008
Posted by: Dan T.
Boom BloxI have an addiction and I'm not afraid to admit it, and that addiction is the new Boom Blox game for Wii. Pretty soon, you'll be hooked too because we are giving away copies of Boom Blox this week.

Boom Blox is the brain child of Electronic Arts and Steven Spielberg! This active-play gem involves elements of dodge ball, Jenga and bowling (amongst other games) spread over hundreds of levels via clever characters and story lines.

Spielberg's involvement stems from him not only being a video gamer, but wanting "to create a video game that I could play with my kids." The game is certainly addictive as a single player, but with the whole family involved, it encourages active play, collective reasoning and problem solving. And with over 300 levels, the complexity of the game never feels too simple nor too complex for kids and adults alike. Boom Blox is an excellent example of how a video game can provide a 21st century version of family bonding through gaming.

  • Our family loves to play card games and board games together. We can go for hours in marathon game sessions. Boom Blox looks like it would be a great natural extension of that for us!

  • My favorite family bonding is our family movie/game and pizza night. Once a week we order pizza and all gather round the table or wii to play games or we grab a family movie. We take our three boys (ages 5, 9, & 11) and decide what we all want to do and have a blast spending quality family time…and Boom Blox looks like it would be a great addition to our family game night!! Keeping our family nights in tact is sure to keep our family in tact!! =)

  • We have always loved board games and card games, but since getting a Wii last Christmas we have found that these games make it even easier to get the entire family involved. We play, from the youngest to the oldest. And it’s great when the younger ones can teach the older ones a thing or two! Many of the games for Wii make that possible. They can level the playing field and get us all laughing and encouraging each other as well as up and moving. We really have a great time as a family with Wii!

Many Wii games allow people of all ages to play together, often with a fairly level playing field even for the youngest of the bunch. So sometimes even the younger ones can teach the older folks! • Hi, Our bonding activities vary by the seasons. We always have dinner together and a lot of talking among my husband, two sons and myself goes on. My husband plays catch with our sons in the backyard. We attend all of their baseball games and then discuss what went right/wrong during the game.
To keep cool, we swim in my sister’s pool. Our family watches pro baseball on television and movies together! Thanks, Cindi

  • Our family bonding time is eating out or our long 1200 mile one way trips in the car to visit our older 2 children, grandchildren and other family miles.
Being in the car gives us time to talk about a lot and we make special memories each trip.
Thank you for giving me a chance to win a prize that can make more bonding time for my children.
Since having a 12 and 16 year old still at home we have a very busy schedule with sports, school and band.
So I treasure every moment I can spend with my children.

  • I take a box, cut a large hole in it, tape a cloth over the hole so the contents can’t be seen, and I fill it with prizes - mostly candy and gum, but also a dollar bill, and an instant lottery ticket Then we as a family play board games. The winner gets to pick from the prize box. The kids LOVE it!!! They try to pick the prize by feel, and they’re mostly always happy, except when they are unfortunate enough to get the occasional packet of taco seasoning or something like that that fEELS like candy!! It’s hilarious!

  • We designated one night a week as family night. Each week one child was given the privilege of planning what we would do that night (anything costing money had to be cleared with the parents first). Most of the time it included playing a variety of favorite games, popping popcorn (or the desinated child and I making some kind of treat ahead of time), etc

  • Playing games together IS our favorite family bonding activity! We play games like 20 Questions or license plate games when we’re in the car together, and we like board and card games at home. And also Wii games, of course! We like to play Wii Sports and Big Brain Academy as a family, and the kids and my husband love Mario Galaxy and Super Monkey Ball, so I’m sure Boom Blox would be a hit, too! With the Wii, we all watch each other and cheer for each other.

  • There are many activities my family partakes in which result in family bonding time. Things such as: family dinners together, family night with games like Spoons (a card game played also with our dinner spoons), Mille Borne, Uno, Monopoly or some video games, movie night at home or at the theater, camping and fishing, picnics, family BBQ’s, making crafts, cooking or baking, class projects, however I would have to say that are our favorite is Family Vacations! We spend the entire time together for a week, sometimes two, just sightseeing, laughing, talking, along with most everything stated above but for one exception there is nothing to interfere with our bonding time on vacation and what we are left with are many happy memories!

  • I think that my favorite bonding time for our family is our Saturday Movie Night. We take turns each week and a family member picks out their favorite movie for all of us to watch. It is always family friendly so the youngest to the oldest can watch it. I then make a giant bowl of popcorn, ice cold Kool Aid and we turn down the lights. I love the way we are all snuggled together on our couch laughing together. I know that these nights are ones which will live in all of our hearts forever.

  • My family always bonded over a game of Scrabble — usually boys against girls, with my Dad and I taking on my mom and sister in a friendly rivalry. We always had a lot of laughs over the silly non-words one of us would try to convince the others was legitimate, and we’d use the time sitting down together to reminisce and share new stories.

We have always loved to play Phase 10 and Racko however, since we bought the Wii system, we have Bowling and Big Brain Academy marathons. We love Wii! Interestingly, I had Boom Blox in my hand looking at it today. I think it would be a great game for my 5 year old grandson.
