Celebrating the Small Screen

Damages Season 1The Emmy Awards were last night, and among the usual heavy-hitters like 30 Rock, Lost, and Mad Men, there were some surprise winners as well. Neil Patrick Harris (aka Doogie Howser) killed it as the host and I found myself wondering how many amazing shows I've been missing out on.

Shows like Breaking Bad and Damages took home some of the top awards so naturally I've made some changes to my DVR list. DVD sets are the perfect gift for that hard to shop for person or a great care package for college students or a get well soon pick-me up. There's tons of great shows out there for the comedy nuts and drama lovers. Check out the full list of winners and see what you've been missing.

Damages Season 1 DVD starting at $29.49.

Eye-Catching Think Pink Gift

Too Faced Eyeshadow Duo - Betsy BabyEven as Breast Cancer Awareness month starts to wind down, the pink products continue to impress me. What better way to be aware than to purchase something that makes her (or you) feel pretty while giving back at the same time? This limited-edition duo eyeshadow has a touching backstory about a breast cancer survivor and gives funds to the cause.

When Betsy Olum was diagnosed with cancer in 2007, her wish was to have close friend and Too Faced Cosmetics founder Jerrod Blandino bring back her favorite eye shadow. Blandino took it to heart and created Betsy Baby (with Olum's help, of course), a two-shadow compact that celebrates Olum's triumph over cancer and gives $9 per sale to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Any woman would be happy to receive such a pretty, purposeful gift, not only this month but months to come.

Pretty in Pink: Breast Cancer Awareness Tees

Bop Basics Sophia Bush Breast Cancer Awareness TeeAs someone who has been deeply affected by breast cancer, I don’t think there can ever be too much done to promote awareness. With all the bags, hats and fanny packs out there I was relieved to find something I show my support and actually want to wear. So when I saw these fabulous Breast Cancer Awareness Tees, I knew I had to get one!

Not only are they fun to wear, but they all donate a portion of proceeds to reputable breast cancer charities. The jersey burnout tees are all pink and each has an individual design (chain graphic, superwoman logo, high-heel pump) created by a female celebrity (Nicky Hilton, Sophia Bush, Denise Richards). Check out all Think Pink gear to show your support.

Bop Basics Breast Cancer Awareness Tee starting at $88.00

Crane Frog 1Gallon HumidifierFor under-the-weather little ones, this adorable frog humidifier, is a fun get well soon gift that will actually help them feel better. When you're running the heat or A/C a lot, dry air is inevitable. But a humidifier does wonders to help kids breathe easier. When it runs it's whisper quiet so it won't disturb your sleeping sick one, but when he wakes up he'll have something cheerful to look at.

Softest Slippers

Frontgate - Cashmere SlippersThere are a handful of things that I can always count on to get me through a chilly winter's day: a mug of Bailey's coffee, a grilled cheese sandwich with a big bowl of tomato soup, and a cozy pair of luxurious slippers, like these Cashmere Slippers from Frontgate.

With a cable-knit top, a waffle-knit covered memory-foam sole, and a cute little velvet bow, these slippers take elegant comfort to a whole new level. They almost make me wish winter lasted a few months longer. Almost. A Valentine's Day gift any Urban Sophisticate would appreciate.

A Winning Combination

Chicken soup is soooo dated. And flowers sure don’t make that cold go away. This is how you do a Get Well gift right. Try the Soup and Sandwich Ceramic Tray Duo. When it comes to comfort food, there's nothing I love more than a plate of steamy grilled cheese and tomato soup, but what I don't need is the inevitable mess and hassle of juggling both at the same time.

This duo puts breakfast in bed trays to shame with its unique design and portable size. Give it to an under-the-weather friend, with soup and grilled cheese included of course (whether you made it yourself or bought it from the best). And for the holidays, it's the perfect gift for a soup lover like me.

Pumpkin 'N Posies

This time of year, a Pumpkin 'N Posies flower arrangement is a treat that does the trick for wishing a happy birthday, Boss's Day, congratulations, speedy recovery, or housewarming! You really can't go wrong with flowers, but if you show special care in choosing a seasonal arrangement like this autumnal Pumpkin 'N Posies mix of flowers, you can really earn extra brownie points. Or maybe I should call them cookie points, since the flowers are delivered in an amber glass cookie jar that makes a great decoration once the flowers fade!
