Best of all this one comes with a second tag that you can use on your keychain or a necklace of your own. Keep the engraving simple with his name and birthday or the day you started going out. Go-to Gifts for the Serious Boyfriend

Design Your Own Chuck Taylor All Star LowThinking about your relationship stage is the key to getting the right gift for him on Valentine’s Day. I’ve given some of my secret Guru tips for stages such as “The Crush”, “Puppy Love” and “Together 4 Ever”, but there’s one more stage I want to get to…the “Fallen 4 You” stage.

So you and your guy have gotten off to a flying start and all of the sudden you find yourself in a great relationship- How’d that happen?  The key to gifting well in the “Fallen 4 You” stage is to get him something that indulges him in the things he loves to do. Is he a sports fan? A golfer?  Does he have a sweet tooth? Here’s an idea tons of guys would love. A custom made pair of Chuck Taylor sneakers. You can make them or it can be up to him to design. Either way, you’ll score points on such a cool and creative gift. Bonus, he’ll think about you every time he laces them up!  See you at the altar.

Fool Proof Gifts for the New Boyfriend

Chocoholics Body FrostingAs a Gift Guru, I realize getting a guy a great Valentine’s Day gift can seem like a daunting task. At the same time, if you think about the relationship stage you’re in, you can really take the guess work out of coming up with a great gift.

So congratulations, you’ve passed The Crush stage and you’re fully immersed in a sizzling, new relationship…we like to call the Puppy Love stage. Puppy Love means it’s early, but things are going really well. You’ve stopped counting what date number you’re on, and you can’t wait for the next one. At this point, in the gifting department, there are two ways to go- and the good thing is, there’s no wrong answer.

You could either let him know how into him you are with a gift that speaks to his interests. For example, you know every moment he’s not with you, he has his iPod on. So cater to his Music Lover side and get him the upgrade in ear bud earphones he’s been talking about. Or you can go an entirely different direction, which may be a little more fun. At this point, there’s a good chance you can think about getting a little friskier in the gift area. Why not try “Chocoholics body frosting”? Sure it’s not really subtle, than again, “Puppy Love” is the stage where you can get away with stuff like that. Who knows, it might just lead to “Fallen 4 U” stage.

Chocoholics Body Frosting starting at $29.95.

No Brainer Gifts for Your Crush

Chicks Dig You Cereal BowlAs mentioned previously, one way to approach a Valentine’s Day gift is to think about the relationship stage you’re in.

As we all know, the first stage, also known as the “Crush” stage may be the one that’s the most fun- or at least it is until you get to the Boyfriend (or Girlfriend) stage. Valentine’s Day offers a great opportunity to take all that flirting and innuendo to the next phase with a gift that makes intentions a little more out in the open. But at the same time, a gift for a Crush still leaves things light hearted and loose. No need to go too fast at this point!  So feed his ego a bit with a fun gift such as the “Chicks Dig You” cereal bowl. He’ll laugh, he’ll like it, and maybe just importantly, he’ll know the ball’s in his court to reciprocate- hopefully in the near future.

Chicks Dig You Cereal Bowl starting at $14.99.

The Lowdown on Guy Gifts

Anthony Logistics for Men Grab and Go PortablesTwo Gift Guru tips on how to “gift well” for men on Valentine’s Day.

First is easy- shop now. Take the hassle of scrambling around to find him a gift at the last minute out of the equation by shopping now for that thoughtful gift. Then, you can subtly let him know you got him a great gift putting the pressure ON HIM (sorry guys) to come up big for you February 14th.

Second Guru tip- If you’re in doubt about a Valentine’s Gift, think about the stage of the relationship your in (like the “Crush”, “Puppy Love” etc.). For example, a gift for the “Together 4 Ever” relationship is all about getting something thoughtful (not necessarily expensive!) that reflects his personal style or interests, if it happens to lean towards the romantic side, you’ll get some extra points. Some ideas for the “Together 4 Ever” stage I like are a new fragrance you love (and think he’d like too) or a sampling of his favorite food or beverage. All it takes is just a little something to remind him no one in the world knows and loves him more than you!

Why Him? Why Her? Finding Real Love By Understandting Personality TypeWe here at Gifts.com are big believers in personality types when it comes to gifting. But according to Helen Fisher's latest book "Why Him? Why Her?: Finding Real Love By Understanding Your Personality Type", personality plays a very large and unconscious role in the dating game.

As the chief scientific adviser for Chemistry.com and a research professor of anthropology at Rutgers University, Fisher has done countless research interviewing people all over the world and ended up with an extensive questionnaire to help people figure out their personality type. According to Fisher there are four general personality types: the Builder, Explorer, Director and Negotiator. Each are dictated by different chemical systems in the brain. So we look for partners who are both are opposites and counterparts. So maybe it's not always think with your head and not with your heart. And with Valentine's Day right around the corner, it's the perfect gift for that best friend who's still looking for Mr.Right.
