Gift Giveaway: U.B. Funkeys Starter Kit

July 11, 2008
Posted by: Laura S.

U.B Funkeys Speed Racer Starter SetOne of the biggest toy trends to explode this year is web based collectibles. They allow kids to interact with virtual worlds and give parents the peace of mind with safe web play. One of my favorites is the U.B Funkeys collection.

These vinyl pop collectibles are full of personality and come in all different colors and themes. It's a great birthday gift for kids who are computer savvy and have big imaginations. Using a central hub that plugs into a USB port, each "Funkey" connects to the hub and appears on the screen. After loading the game software, kids can trade and collect different characters to unlock more of their Funkey worlds and deck out their virtual "cribs".

We're giving away the U.B Funkeys Speed Racer Starter Kit which includes a hub, two U.B Funkeys character figures and PC software. Join Speed and his gang and race the Mach 5 online with your friends.

Want to win? Post a comment below and tell us about your favorite childhood toy by 11:59 p.m. EST Thursday, July 17. One comment per person please, multiple comments will be discarded. Click here to read the official rules.

Here's what people are rapping about...

  • I wasn’t a tom-boy or anything but I loved to ride my brothers Green Machine (big wheel). Also Hippity Hoops were cool too!

  • By far, my favorite childhood toy was my Barbie dolls and all their accompanying accessories. My best friend and I had hours of fun playing make-believe with them.

  • The best toy by far from my childhood would have to be good old-fashioned, Lego’s. I remember spending hours, sitting on my floor building animals and flowers and little houses. Now that I have my own kids, I buy them legos…and sometimes still play with them. Genuine classic.

  • I loved playing with my Barbies and their homes. Over the years, I had set up the ski chalet and then they would go cruising, camping and then take the sports car home. I still collect barbies, but they live in their boxes (for now).

  • I absolutely loved my Krissy doll. She had a turquoise dress and reddish hair that extended when a button on her back was pushed. If pushed again, her hair would go back to being short. It was the best doll ever!

  • My favorite childhood toy was not this cool! I played a lot outside on sidewalk with my Barbies *gasp* and I loved to scribble with chalk all over the neighborhood walkways!

  • Hello! I had a “Casper the Ghost” game that I loved when I was a child. There was a mini Casper that was magnetic and the wand moved him along. I think your rolled dice to see where you could take him along the route to win. He glowed in the dark.! No one I ever knew had the game and I have never seen it since I had mine. Please enter me in your delightful contest drawing. Thanks, Cindi

  • Sad to say, but my favorite toy was the ones my brothers (and there were many!!) were playing with at the time. Being the only girl for many years made me learn to stand up for myself very quickly. My mother gave up on the dolls and frilly stuff and eventually caved and got me the cars along with my brother. On the other hand, my son and I have been fans of UB funkeys since the beginning, but I hadn’t seen the racer set as of yet. This would be awesome for us to play with! Thanks
