A mother, a writer and a seasoned traveler, Jen Swetzoff is certainly a jack of all trades. After visiting over 20 countries and 6 continents, she’s currently chronicling her most recent adventure…parenthood.

Part parenting resource and travel guide, Parenture is where Jen regularly  shares her expertise as a former travel writer and new mom. We’re lucky enough to have Jen joining us as Guest Guru to share her exclusive tips and gifting advice.

Give Your Kids the World

April showers don’t have to stop your kids from getting out and about. With a little imagination, these travel-inspired toys can take your mini adventurers around the world in a day—without ever leaving home (and without having to buy an expensive plane ticket).

Start off by brainstorming where to go with this illuminated globe from the Land of Nod. Practice saying hello in 36 languages with Children of the World memory cards from Barefoot Books.

Then bid the kids, “Bon voyage,” and send them on their way to Paris, where they’ll see the Eiffel Tower. Next, they can travel to any place they imagine—by sketching it on the new What Do You See Art Pads. Help them think about how they’ll get from one place to the next with this stamp set from Melissa and Doug.

If they’re thinking about heading to Asia, they can study Chinese with Uncle Goose blocks. If they want to embark on a safari in Africa, they can create some of the animals they might see there with Topozoo Puzzle Set.

Finally, as the day comes to an end, cuddle up for one more adventure with this personalized children’s book from MarbleSpark. In Following Featherbottom, a globetrotting stork named Felix Featherbottom travels around the world to find each letter of your child’s name in a different place.

That story’s sure to bring sweet dreams.
