Guest Guru: Planning for Greener Bridal Shower Gifts

Being the Queen of Green, Amity loves to share her eco-friendly tips and finds on her site Green Gifts Guide. Along with sharing her eagle-eyed finds, her site is a great resource for entertaining and being generous to people and the planet too.

Since eco-weddings are such a big trend these days, we asked Amity to share with us a series on Green Weddings. After sharing her bridal shower hosting tips, she’s rounded up some of her favorite “green gifts” for the bride to be.

Planning for Greener Bridal Shower Gifts

You can offer to help the couple register for Fair Trade or eco-friendly gifts. Be sure they know about registry sites like iDoFoundation.org and JustGive.org where they can register for gifts that give back to a cause that matters to them.

When it comes to shower gifts you can also help by encouraging or arranging to:

Assist the bride with wedding planning: Instead of another “thing,” give the bride something that helps make the wedding planning process easier.

A massage gift certificate or help with the expense of a green wedding planner can make a big difference.

 

Give back: Ask your guests to bring a little something extra for the planet, such as financial donations for the bride’s favorite eco-charity or items for the local animal shelter.

 

 

Gift a CSA subscription:  A Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) or any type of local farm delivery program is truly the gift that keeps on giving. Pair it with a cookbook filled with healthy, seasonal recipes.
