Celebrate the Longest Rays of the Year

It feels like summer just got started and we’re already at the longest day of the year! What gives? I don’t know about you, but I’m nowhere near ready to start saying goodbye to daylight. But, today is the most light we’re going to see all year so we better do something to celebrate!

Why are we at work? We should all leave work a little bit early today to maximize our sunshine consumption! It is the summer solstice after all and in ancient times, this was one of the biggest party days of the year. In fact, at around 3100BC Stonehenge attracted around 4,000 people each mid-summer day for a festival. And back then 4,000 was an epic amount of people!

Although we might not be gathering with 4,000 of our closest friends today, we still need to do a little something. I think I’ll go to the river front and watch the sun set on Manhattan…

What are you going to do to mark the summer solstice?
