Outdoor Retailer Summer Market (a.k.a “OR”) is the world’s largest outdoor sports industry gathering! This is THE place to find the hot products, the latest trends and see the “coming soon” goods from over 1000 outdoor lifestyle brands.

The trick for a Gift Guru is to find the fun, unique, helpful and ultimately “gift-able” products from the thousands on hand. Here’s one I love:

The Gift: The Thule “Crossover” Backpack (available for around $100)

The Scoop: Thule, the brand known for their car-top roof racks, has branched out into travel gear and laptop case solutions. Their feature heavy “Crossover”* pack is an extremely well thought out laptop pack with everything you need nothing you don’t. Key features include two main compartments with the larger having a well padded laptop pouch and the smaller having a pair of zip mesh pouches (great for laptop accessories).

Another feature I love is the heat-molded, crush-proof compartment on the top of the bag to keep your more delicate gear (such as glasses, electronics, gadgets, etc.) extremely safe. Two side compartments and an easily-accessible front sleeve means there’s ample room for nearly anything you want to haul, yet not too many pouches and pockets to make gear hard to find. Add the bag’s durable build, water-resistant materials, three color options (Black, “Fathom” (blue/green-ish and “Foliose” orange/red-ish) and this bag is sure to become a “go-to” pack for many. Love this one.

A Great Gift For: Gear and tech loving adults and students needing a “go-to” pack

* Disclosure: Thule supplied a “Crossover” backpack for use and review.
