Summer Casual Made Simple

It’s post-Memorial Day, so it’s time to start rotating in some of the summer wardrobe staples.

There’s a lot of go-to summer gear which has been collecting dust for months, but now is the perfect time to break out the ‘ole reliables and possibly refresh with some new stuff.

One staple every guy should have in his arsenal is a fresh pair of (very) white tennis shoes. This understated classic is a summer stalwart for its incredible versatility. White sneaks bring that summer feel to everything. Jeans, khakis, cargoes, you name it, all feel a little lighter and fresher when they accompany a new pair of white sneakers.

A pair I’ve been sporting lately is the “Tuba II” white leather shoe by Simple (it does come in black as well). This classically styled tennis shoe is adorned with only the slightest of navy accents and the Simple green heal stamp. What we’ve got here is the perfect summer sneaker. Sharp enough to wear with jeans at work (or at least my work), and smooth enough to wear shorts and tees on the weekend. Gift Guru tip: Keep these clean! Wipe away small dirt marks and scuffs as they happen to keep that just-out-of-the-box newness.

Aside from The Tuba II’s versatility, the other really cool story with this Simple white shoe is that it’s actually “green”. Many of the Tuba II’s components are eco-considerate. The Tuba II’s upper is constructed from eco-certified leather while the shoe’s bottom is made from a blend of 40% recycled car tires and 60% natural rubber. Even the shoebox is made of post-consumer recycled paper, soy based printing ink, natural latex and starch based cements.

So while a white pair of sneaks is essential for summer, there’s no reason it can’t be green too.

(Disclosure- Simple sent Gifts.com a pair of Tuba II’s for review)
