Giftee Awards Guest Judges: The Nest

We have gotten some truly stellar folks to join us in our search for the best gifts of 2011 and each week, we’ll be featuring one of them right here on the Gift Rap Blog.

This week we’re featuring Giftees judge Kristine Solomon from one of our favorite sites! The Nest, the popular offshoot of The Knot est. 2006, is the only brand focused exclusively on young nesters setting up homes and navigating new lives together, reaching millions of couples each year through TheNest.com and The Nest books.

Kristine has been a writer for years and when I asked her about her fortuitous journey to becoming Editor at The Nest she said, “I became an editor for print magazines while I was still in college. Even though I was interested in creative writing at the time, I realized that journalism was my thing. Along the way I’ve had plenty of opportunities to write; I even helped The Nest produce their decorating book, The Nest Home Design Handbook, a few years ago – and now I’m the editor of the site! So my career’s definitely been a journey of both intention and happenstance.”

Kristine knows a thing or two about giving great gifts too, although she’s slightly modest about it. “I’m not sure about the greatest gift I’ve ever given, but for my parents’ last anniversary, I decided to get them a basketful of DVDs – all movies that came out the year they were married. It just so happened that some of their favorite movies debuted that year, and they loved it.” Well done!
