Sites We Love: Pinterest

Inspiration can strike at any time. Many of us have endless bookmarks and folders on our computers of things that we like or want to remember. Before that, there were folders full of clippings and DIY scrapbooks. So what if there was a website that allowed you to save any image or link on the web into one fun collage format that you could revisit anytime?

Pinterest allows you to do just that. Not only does it let you create your own inspiration “boards” but it lets you see what others are “pinning” as well. It’s an endless stream of products, photos, recipes, you name it! It’s social shopping at it’s best. What I love the most about it, is that it allows me to organize gifts or products that I like, that I can come back to at a later date.

Above you can see my folder of “Gifts for Dads”. It’s a collection of products, craft ideas and recipes that I think would be perfect for Father’s Day. It’s also useful for planning ahead for occasions. Say you have a wedding that you’re planning or a kid’s birthday party. Just simply create your folder or “board” and start saving ideas for decorations, recipes and much much more.

Did I mention it’s a total time suck? It’s completely addicting but also endlessly useful. Because Pinterest is social by nature, you can also “follow” other people’s pins like Twitter and you can “Like” and comment on pins as well. You can find your friends to share ideas or track down your favorite bloggers. It may be under the radar now, but believe, this site is blowing up in popularity with hundreds if not more, of new members everyday.

Happy Pinning!
