CES 2012 Favorites: Fitbit Aria Wi-Fi Scale
The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world’s largest consumer technology trade show. Nearly 150,000 attendees are on hand to check out over 2500 exhibitors showcasing their latest products on more than 1.6 million feet of exhibit space. This trade show is massive!
Since consumer electronics are the hottest and (still) fastest growing gift segment, CES gives me a chance to get an early look at some great gadgets. CES also is a great place to spot the bigger picture trends in the electronics arena.
The sheer amount of products at CES is staggering, but I have turned Las Vegas upside down and found some cool ones that should make great gifts. Here are some of my favorites from CES 2012.
The Product: The Fibit Aria Wi-Fi Scale (available Spring 2012 for around $130)
The Scoop: We were turned on to Fitbit last year with their “Ultra” wireless tracker fitness device. At CES, Fitbit was showing off their new product called the Aria. The Aria is a Wi-Fi Scale which links data to a Fitbit account. Features of the Aria include the tracking of weight, BMI and body fat percentage.
Once the data is recorded, it is wirelessly sent to the gorgeous and very friendly Fitbit site. The site will track trends, encourage goal setting and reward users with badges for milestones completed.
If the Aria is anything like the the Fitbit Ultra, the web site is a great tool to keep one on track and motivated.
One big gift caveat is that a scale in most instances is probably not a great gift. However, cool wellness tech might just be perfect gift idea for the right person.
A Great Gift For: …for fitness and wellness gadget lovers.
