Twice a year, the Gifts team heads to the New York International Gift Fair to see what companies big and small have to offer in the new year.  If you think we have a hard time narrowing down our favorite gifts from thousands of products all over the web, you can’t imagine the task we face at this bi-annual show. It’s like a bunch of kids in a candy store! But with our divide and conquer strategy, we manage to pin down the coolest products and hottest trends for every age group. I got a head start this weekend checking out what’s cool in kids’ world.  I saw a lot of stuff I’m excited to see hit the shelves in spring, but what stood out from the bunch were these crazy, spiky creations from Mad Pax.

Their tagline is “part punk, part funk”, but really they appear to be part dinosaur and part monster. In the best possible way. These take standout style to a whole other level.  My first thought was, these things could really do some damage on the school bus, but appearances proved to be deceiving.  The spikes are actually soft and squishy. The exterior is made of (PU) which lends it a foam and leather-type texture.

There’s tons of fun colors to choose from, and various sizes, so even pre-school kids can sports some serious style. They’re great for any Wild Child, or any creative kid who wants to make a big impression on the first day of school.

Stay tuned for more gifting news from the Gift Fair, or follow us on Twitter for live-updates.
