The Gift: Nerf Vortex Blasters (four blasters available 9/10/11 ranging from $10 – $40)

The Scoop: Nerf likes to shoot stuff. Whether its water with their Super Soakers, or darts with their N-Strike Blasters, Nerf has always been great at scratching that “shooter” itch.

It’s VERY exciting to see Nerf continue their shooter evolution with their Nerf Vortex line which includes four different blasters. The new wrinkle with the Vortex line is these blasters shoot (roughly) half-dollar sized semi-hard foam discs. The result is Nerf weaponry with unprecedented ammo velocity and accuracy. I got to give each of the four blasters a shot last night at the Nerf Vortex launch event and I can’t wait until these things hit the stores!

I have two favorite blasters. The Nitron is the heavy hitter with automatic firing and a very cool laser-esque site. The other favorite is the Praxis, which is a pump-action bad boy with a bit of an attitude. The Nerf Vortex blasters will most certainly make my Gifts of the Year 2011 edition. The inter-office battlefield will never be the same! 9/10/11 can’t come soon enough.

A Great Gift For: The Vortex is for kids 8+, “kids at heart” who are way over 8+ and anyone who wants to dominate inter-office battles.
