The Product: The HMDX “Flex” wireless speaker (available May/June 2012 for around $30)

The Scoop: In a mobile world, music is ubiquitous. Whether your tunes are stored on a device or streamed via a music service, music has never been more accessible. As such, there are more and more options for playing your mobile music while on the go. The CES 2012 floor was inundated with headphone choices yet considerably fewer small, portable speaker options.

One that caught my eye was the “Flex” wireless speaker from HMDX. Out in Spring 2012 at The Sharper Image online, the Flex initially looked sleek yet fairly unassuming. Frankly, the “$30 portable speaker” category rarely inspires.

But sure enough, the Flex delivers a notable feature set including Blue Tooth connectivity (up to 30 feet), a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, attractive color options and a tiny foot print of less than 3 cubic inches. But most importantly the Flex delivers respectable sound and appreciable value for a mini, portable speaker.

A Great Gift For: Music fans on-the-go. Great for the office and students. A super stocking stuffer for Holidays ’12 too!
