Toy Fair Favorites

Toy Fair has come and gone, but the fun is just getting started. We saw all sorts of gadgets and gizmos that will be hitting toy shelves this year that we’d love to get our hands on now. While most of these toys won’t be out til summer and fall, there’s a few that are in-stores now. The amount of toys that come out each year can be overwhelming, but we’ve narrowed it down to a few of our favorites you should keep your eye out for in the near future.

Sing-a-ma-Jigs Duets

I kinda feel a little bad for the “other” cool new Sing-A-Ma-Jigs like the Birthday, Easter and Mickey & Minnie versions of the extremely popular harmonizing plush toys. The reason being, the new “Sing-A-Ma-Jigs Duets” are total show-stoppers. Duets are basically double the fun with two lovable harmonizers (one big- one little) in one plush doll. You can keep your eyes out for these guys starting this Fall, but something tells me your kids will tell you exactly when these are hitting the shelves.

Hot Wheels Video Racer

The “Hot” has been put back in Hot Wheels with the scheduled Fall 2011 release of Hot Wheels Video Racer. Hot Wheels has actually put a tiny video camera inside a regular-sized Hot Wheels car. So now you can get a drivers seat view of what it looks like when a Hot Wheels takes to the track. View the footage on the LCD screen built-into the car or upload the up to 12 minutes of captured racing to your computer to relive (and edit) all the action. Even cooler, Hot Wheels Video Racers come the accessories that let you mount the car on bike helmets or handle bars to record outdoor action as well as action on the track. Coming Fall 2011 for around $60.

Glow in the Dark Hexbug Nano

Some might be satisfied with winning the 2010 Specialty Toy of the Year. But thankfully Hexbug has not rested on their well-deserved laurels. So how do you make an award-winning toy better? You take the Hexbug Nano and make it glow in the dark! Not only do the awesome Nano bugs now come glow in the dark, but you can also pick up track sets that are equally as vibrant when you turn out the lights. The new Nanos are available now starting around $10.

Nerf SwarmFire has dominated inter-office battles ever since we got the Nerf Stampede ECS Blaster last year. So it was with great excitement when I saw a new Nerf blaster at Toy Fair. The Nerf Swarmfire feels like a friendly rival of the Stampede. With its intense rapid fire and clip-less dart loading, I couldn’t help to wonder what would happen if the Swamfire ever met up with a Stampede in a dark ally. It sure wouldn’t be pretty, but either way Swarmfire was a big Toy Fair 2011 highlight.

Razor eSpark Electric Scooter

A big trend we’ve seen in gifting are “gifts for the young …and young at heart”. Why should the kids have all the fun?! In 2010 we’ve experienced first-hand how much fun Razor products provide as we use our Razor Ground Force Drifter Go-Kart in-office for everything from drag races to trips to the fax machine. So I got real excited when Razor showed me their Razor eSpark Electric Scooter. The eSpark makes a good thing (electric scooter) even better by adding a “spark bar”. As your scooting along, at up to 12 MPH, you apply pressure to the spark bar with your rear foot to lay down an awesome trail of sparks. Makes for awesomeness for those 8 and up…and I can personally attest to the “and up” part. Available now for around $170.

Mimobot: Retro Batman

We’ve been loving Mimobots for a while now. Mimobots are very cool designer USB drives. We came across some of their newer releases at Toy Fair. While Mimobot has an eye for eye-catching style, the 1939 era inspired Batman drive was impossible to miss. This retro Batman USB drive is a limited edition and come pre-loaded with cool goodies such as Batman wallpapers, and screensavers. Price depends on drive capacity but starts at 2GB for $19.95.
