Out of the tens of thousands of new toys at the 2013 American International Toy Fair, the HEXBUG Aquabot was one of my favorites! Here’s why I think your kids will love it too.

Toy Name: The HEXBUG Aquabot

The Scoop: You may be familiar with all the fun, creepy, crawly robotic toys HEXBUG has brought out way. Now HEXBUG has announced a water-born version of their micro robotic creatures. The HEXBUG Aquabot looks and behaves like a real fish! The HEXBUG Aquabot has a sensor that activates when the fish is submerged in water, and when in water, the colorful HEXBUG Aquabot comes to life swimming around to explore its environment.

A Great Gift For: This is a great gift for animal and tech loving kids. And it’s a great gift for making bath time more fun. Also makes a great no-mess pet!

When & How Much? Aquabots hit stores in the Fall of 2013. Aquabots will be available in five translucent colors and will sell individually for around $10. For $15 there will be an Aquabot sold with a small water tank (prototype seen in video below).

You don’t want to miss the scoop from the “110th annual American International Toy Fair®  (February 10th – 13th )! It’s the largest toy and youth product marketplace in the Western Hemisphere, bringing together more than 1,000 exhibiting manufacturers, distributors, importers and sales agents from around the globe to showcase their toy and entertainment products from classic toys to interactive entertainment and everything in between.”

Each year, the Gift Gurus walk the over 350,000 square feet at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City in search of the most giftable toys and games. It truly is a labor of love (and comfy shoes!) to get an early look at what’s new and exciting for the kiddos. This industry only event is where the big sellers for the holidays are determined…yes, they are determined in February! And, as always, we’re taking you with us into the belly of the beast to see what’s hot before it hits the shelves.

Stay tuned to see all of our American International Toy Fair finds for the scoop on what our predictions are for this and previous years.
